Thobeka Nkabinde is a purpose-driven social entrepreneur passionate about education, empowerment, and innovation. She is the founder of eRank Play, a platform that gamifies learning for South African learners across school, tertiary, and adult education levels, and the Director of KYD Space (Khaya Youth Development Space), which equips youth with digital literacy, psychosocial support, entrepreneurship training, and creative upskilling.
With a background in Anthropology, Sociology, and Psychology from the University of the Western Cape, Thobeka applies a human-centered lens to innovation. She is committed to pushing boundaries and disrupting traditional business approaches by identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing strategic solutions. Whether it's enhancing marketing strategies or optimizing operational workflows, she thrives on driving efficiency and maximizing performance.
Her leadership has shaped impactful initiatives recognized for their contributions to social innovation and community development. From winning accolades in entrepreneurship competitions to mentoring the next generation of change-makers, Thobeka is deeply committed to sustainable, inclusive progress.
She is a former President and Advisory Board Member of Enactus UWC and an alumna of the Raymond Ackerman Academy at UJ Business School, the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), and Thunderbird School of Global Management’s DreamBuilder Program. Her entrepreneurial journey has earned recognition from organisations including the Motsepe Foundation, MTN SA Foundation, ABSA, Telkom FutureMakers, Innovate Durban, and the FinTech Startup Accelerator, where she placed second.
